Today is the 10 year anniversary of Aaliyah’s passing and I’m sitting here reminiscing and playing music, thinking of the times we spent together, working, laughing, singing, dancing, cutting up. But really, it’s not all that different from any other day because I do think about her every day.
Not on purpose, but she is my friend and that’s just how I do. I’ve told the same stories for 9 years – how we met, how me and Tim were scared but Aaliyah was so welcoming and had this smile and way about her that put us at ease, that she liked to take chances and we were able to just be who we were and make good records together.
She loved playing jokes and that’s another part of her personality that made it fun to be around her. As a talent, I think she’s missed because she was unique and a true triple threat. She could sing, dance, and her acting was starting to take off.
I’m glad for the memories I have and the time we got to spend together, but I miss my friend.
I have trouble accepting the fact that you’re gone, so I won’t!
It’ll be like we went for a while without seeing each another.
But I can understand why God would’ve wanted you close to him, because you truly were an angel on earth.
In my own special way I love you and I miss you!

Yesterday afternoon “It’s Good”, a song off of Tha Carter IV, leaked online along with the whole album. This song features Drake and Jadakiss and contains a shot at Jay-Z and Beyonce in Lil Wayne’s verse. This diss is a response to Jay-Z’s “shot” at Lil Wayne in the song “H.A.M” which is featured as a bonus track off of the album from Jay-Z & Kanye West (The Throne) “Watch The Throne”. Lil Wayne recently told Vibe magazine (for their Oct./Nov. issue) that he is not expecting any repercussions from Jay-Z (see below).
Wayne says he’s not worried about any fallout from the presumed lyrical barb at the Watch The Throne MC which features Drake and Jadakiss as Weezy snaps, “I got your baby money/Kidnap your bitch, get that how much you love your lady money.” (The sneering line comes off as a rebuttal to Hova’s Birdman-aimed “H.A.M.” slap “Really you got baby money…You ain’t got my lady’s money.”)
“I know there won’t be any repercussions behind what I did,” says a confident Wayne when asked if he had second thoughts about recording his acidic verse for ‘It ‘s Good.’ “I know for a fact music is about perception. You can’t do anything but perceive what you hear. I know that for a fact. So I can’t ever be upset about someone’s reaction.”
Wayne added that while he understands the intrigue and buzz behind the record, it’s just another song. “I’m not going to say I don’t know what would happen before I even say [something on record],” he explains. “I do know what will happen. I’m aware of it. But it is what it is.”

Keep it real with niggas, niggas ain’t got my lady money
Watch the throne, don’t step on our robe

– Jay-Z: H.A.M. Lyrics (MetroLyrics.com)
Talkin ’bout baby money? I got your baby money
Kidnap your bitch, get that ‘how much you love your lady’ money
I know you fake nigga, press your brakes nigga
